FP fans, meet Jessica Marchena, a therapist in Boca Raton, FL!
1) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR THERAPY OFFICE?
Five years ago, we had a vision and a dream to create an upscale, spa-like environment for our clients at the Heart Connection Center. By remodeling the office from top to bottom, and by adding warm and relaxing colors, we were able to create the spa environment of that dream.
Everything we chose was carefully handpicked to enhance the HCC center into the beautiful space that it is now. We have 6 office spaces that are fully occupied on a daily basis with a wonderful team of caring therapists.
2) WHAT VIBE DO YOU HOPE YOUR OFFICE GIVES YOUR THERAPY CLIENTS?
From the moment you step into the office, the soft music playing in the waiting room brings a feeling of calm, caring, and hope to your experience.
Offering the coffee and water bar to clients and our therapists brings hospitality and a welcoming feeling. The aromatherapy diffusers with scents of lavender and other office features were all done with clients in mind, to create the most relaxing, warm, and therapeutic space we can for our clients.
If they are going to take that step forward into their healing journey with us, we want to help their therapy experience be as safe, inviting, and warm as possible.
3) DO YOU HAVE ANY CREATURE COMFORTS IN YOUR OFFICE FOR CLIENTS?
The Heart Connection Center has many creature comforts throughout the office for our clients. Our goal is to make the therapeutic experience as relaxing, comfortable and safe as possible.
We have sound machines in the hallways and outside the office doors to respect our clients’ privacy. We have comfy blankets in each office to cuddle up with if they feel cold or just want to snuggle up and feel cozy. We invite our clients to kick off their shoes and relax on our couches.
We offer mints and chocolates as well for a little something sweet. Clients often mention how peaceful they feel the minute they walk into our space!
Let’s not forget the artwork. It was chosen with the purpose of sharing images of healing, growth, love, and strength. We have hearts, butterflies, and trees in our artwork to convey those life-changing choices that will help clients on their healing journey.
4) WHO DESIGNED AND DECORATED YOUR THERAPY OFFICE? DID YOU GET HELP FROM PROFESSIONALS, COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS, OR FAMILY?
We had an amazing interior designer who helped us first design the office of our dreams! Then, he helped us pick the colors to create the spa-like environment that we were striving to achieve.
He also gave us ideas on the kinds of furniture we needed for each room and types of artwork. We had fun shopping and picking out everything together and then he did his magic by decorating the rooms with everything we bought for the office. He has an amazing eye and knew exactly how to create the upscale and spa-like environment that we wanted.
5) ANY ADVICE FOR THERAPISTS WHO ARE JUST STARTING OUT AND DESIGNING THEIR OFFICE FOR THE FIRST TIME, OR SEASONED THERAPISTS LOOKING TO REDESIGN THEIR OFFICES?
My advice would be to just go for it! It will be so worth it in the end. It was a lot of hard work to get where we are today but the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment we feel now is priceless.
We spend a lot of time in our offices and we deserve to feel comfortable and at home when we are there. Our clients deserve to have an inviting space where they can feel at ease to share their stories with us. So many clients have told me how depressing some doctors offices are and it makes them not want to go back to see them even if they are good.
Get a professional to help you design your office. And you don’t have to get expensive artwork or furniture. We went to Home Goods, Pier 1, Rooms To Go, and City Furniture for all of our decorating needs.
I hope this inspires other therapists to go for it and create the office of their dreams!
