1) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR THERAPY OFFICE?
Our chic, yet casually sophisticated counseling and psychology group practice provides the perfect environment for healing, transformation, and empowerment.
In January of 2019, we expanded our Bayview Therapy team and moved into a brand new office in east Fort Lauderdale, Florida less than a ¼ mile from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
When you first walk up to our suite and open the custom solid-core birch doors, you’re greeted with calming organic elements subtly evoking the 5 senses. While waiting for your session, you’ll relax in our mid-century modern private lobby designed with variations of natural wood mixed with hues of gold, grey, blue, and turquoise gradients mirroring the Atlantic Ocean.
Our 3 foot circular wave logo glows softly on the wall, letting you know you’ve arrived in the right place. The navy blue textured feature wall is adorned with a large round custom resin artwork providing well-balanced colors, textures, and patterns for visual experiences that brings a sense of warmth, comfort, and inspiration.
Our luxurious 2,100 square foot suite includes five large, uniquely designed counseling rooms each equipped with large windows showcasing the natural beauty of our south Florida blue skies, sun, and palm trees. We have a large conference room with big windows for trainings, team meetings, and networking events.
Each counseling room was uniquely designed and carefully positioned so that people feel a sense of warmth, comfort, and inspiration while meeting with their therapist. When selecting decorative accents for each room, we incorporated natural elements and color palettes inspired by our tropical landscape and proximity to the Ocean.
Our team enjoys creating high quality content in our one of a kind media productions room. This recording studio provides a sound proof room with sound absorbing wall panels, a green screen and a navy blue feature wall, which is the perfect backdrop for podcasts, webinars, and live online events.
The structure of each room was built with additional sound proofing between the walls and in the ceiling ensuring privacy and confidentiality throughout our space. We also have a kitchen and break room area stocked with snacks and refreshments for our team and their clients. We invite you to take a tour of our office, watch this video to allow this descriptive article to come to life. Enjoy!
2) WHAT VIBE DO YOU HOPE YOUR OFFICE GIVES YOUR THERAPY CLIENTS?
Hospitality and entrepreneurship runs deep in my family. For the past 60 years, my family owned and operated Ireland’s Inn, a hotel and restaurant on Fort Lauderdale beach.
My grandfather, hotelier Jack Ireland, was incredibly kind and caring to all the guests and staff at the hotel. He always worked so hard to ensure everyone was happy and well taken care of. I care deeply about the happiness and well-being of our Bayview Therapy family and clients. Our company culture is inspired by the values my grandfather instilled in me many years ago.
Our Bayview Therapy brand and interior design elements incorporate the calming, soothing, and awe inspiring colors of our south Florida natural landscape and proximity to the beautiful aqua, turquoise, and deep blue Atlantic Ocean. I want our office to feel like you are going to a spa on the beach and that all the stress you came in with could start to wash away like a large calming wave washing over your body creating a sense of relief, renewal, and restoration.
As for the office vibe, the design of each office is as equally important to the work we do with clients. Knowing that people react in different ways to color and design accents, we selected an off-white neutral warm and inviting tone for the walls throughout the office and incorporated pops of color depending on the distinctive themes within each room.
Our 5 counseling rooms are adorned with inspirational names representing the essence of each room such as “renew, inspire, harmony, serenity, and empower”.
We carefully chose custom art pieces throughout the office for well-balanced ambiance accentuating the deep healing power of the environment. From the tranquil and calming Koi fish paintings that “swim” down the hallway to the mixed-media resin artwork designed by our founder – Dr. Kate Campbell’s husband – Brent Campbell of Campbell Creative – to the metallic wave artwork, each piece was chosen to accentuate the well-balanced ambiance in each room.
3) DO YOU HAVE ANY CREATURE COMFORTS IN YOUR OFFICE FOR CLIENTS?
Our beautiful, spa-like atmosphere subtly awakens your 5 senses bringing a sense of peace, comfort, and inspired well-being. We incorporate organic living air plants throughout the space to evoke visual and textural interest for a calming, yet vibrant experience. Each counseling room has creature comforts such as plush pillows and blankets for clients to envelop themselves as desired during counseling sessions.
Citrus and lavender aromatherapy diffusers create a subtle fresh scent calming everyone as they enter our suite. The sound of a large terracotta blue water fountain and carefully chosen background music relaxes you before your session. Refreshments such as sparkling or still water, coffee, or espresso are available for our team and clients.
4) WHO DESIGNED AND DECORATED YOUR THERAPY OFFICE? DID YOU GET HELP FROM PROFESSIONALS, COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS, OR FAMILY?
In preparation for our office relocation and expansion, I met with each member on our team to understand what they liked about our initial office setup where we provided services for the Fort Lauderdale community for 8 years and what they were hoping for in the new office design.
After searching for an ideal group practice space for many months, I couldn’t find exactly what we needed, so I went on a mission to create it from scratch.
My realtor found a newly renovated building with a 2,100 square foot open space in shell condition, which was the perfect opportunity to design our dream group practice. I worked with an amazing architect to create the office blueprints and designed the perfect turn-key office for our team’s needs.
As for the design structure, layout of the rooms, and decor placement, my mom, Kathy Ireland Mitchell, was a huge help. She is incredibly talented with her love for design and is a proud developer of the world-class Auberge Beach Residences & Spa located on the sand in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
It took me an entire year to custom build our luxurious office and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Our team constantly raves about how much they love the space and so do our clients. That makes all of the hard work and perseverance totally worth it.
I love coming to work in such a gorgeous space, seeing our team member’s smiling faces, and feeling so grateful to be able to make a meaningful impact in our south Florida community.
5) ANY ADVICE FOR THERAPISTS WHO ARE JUST STARTING OUT AND DESIGNING THEIR OFFICE FOR THE FIRST TIME, OR SEASONED THERAPISTS LOOKING TO REDESIGN THEIR OFFICES?
Once you’re clear on your authentic brand and the audience you serve, you’ll be able to create an incredible office environment that both you and your clients LOVE!
Start by getting clear on your brand, vision, mission, culture, and ideal clients and then create an environment that blends all of that together.
Consider the elements that help people to feel the results they want to experience while they’re doing the work in therapy. If your clients want a sense of calm, create that experience through organic design elements and soothing colors. If they want to be inspired, create that experience with pops of color and unique artwork.
It’s all about the details. Every detail matters.
Make sure your office is clean, organized, and well-thought out.
